About RIOCC
RIOCC arises out of our passion for the organ, composition, and our artistic community. Believing that composition can greatly enhance a performer’s understanding of our musical world, we set out to create an organ composition competition focused on: introducing young composers and performers to the organ through composition, improvisation, and workshops on writing for the organ; creating performance opportunities to hear or perform their own works; and lastly, an interdisciplinary component revolving around music inspired by local San Antonio art, videography, and poetry. With these ideals in mind, we hope that RIOCC’s vibrant mission will inspire young organ composers, performers, and artists for years to come.
The 2021 Riverwalk International Organ Composition Competition is being sponsored by the Alamo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
